Play On

Life is a play.

We all spend a life acting, both as comedians on a scene we cannot - or do not want to see anymore,
And sometimes as real actors of our lives.

We put on masks when we are in public,
We put on masks with our friends,
We put on masks with our dearest ones,
We must above all else keep our masks when we're facing a mirror,

We spend our lives lying to each other wether we know it or not,

"No one wants to know how I feel."
"It's unimportant."
"It doesn't matter."
"It's for you."
"I'm good."
"I love you."

We spend our lives lying to ourselves,

"I need it."
"I don't care about them."
"They need me."
"I'm good."
"I love them."

So come and play with me,
Dance in this masquerade,
Dance on this scene,
Come and stay with me,
Among everyone else,
Among all those masks,
And always take care of yours,
Never show your true face to the world,
They would hate you if you did.

We want change sometimes,

"We should be more careful."
"I can't stand this anymore!"
"I hate my job!"
"I hate you!"

We don't change anyway,

"I don't want to lose this."
"I can't afford to lose my job."
"I don't want to lose you."

So come and play with me,
Let's keep our masks on,
Let's keep on ignoring everything,
Come and laugh with me,
At everything we say,
At everything we do,
We can do it anyway,
This is nothing but a masquerade,
This is nothing but our lives' play.

We keep lying,

"I'm good."
"I told you I'm good! Leave me alone!"

We say,

"I just want to be happy."

Through all our tears,
Through all our pains,
Through all the obstacles,
Through all the good moments.

So come and walk away with me,
Among the stars,
Among the night,
Come and walk with me,
Where so few went,
Where none came back,
Come and share with me
This dance, only together,
This dance, sweetest embrace,
Come and let's smile together
As our masks fall,
As we meet each other,

As we finally become alive.
